More from Alfriston

Back in Maine and beginning to recover from the flight. Looking through the photos reminds me of the joy of going out for a morning walk around the village in the early morning just as the sun was rising. This is the back view of St Andrews Church, taken from the banks of the River Cuckmere.

The main road into Alfriston is glorious in spring with this bank of daffodils.

A lane in the village of Alfriston leading down to the River Cuckmere in the misty morning light.

The River Cuckmere in early morning mist. It was so good to be there and to be able to enjoy this.

The River Cuckmere just to the south of Alfriston. It is possible to walk along the riverbank all the way to the sea.

The Village Store and Post Office. Now under new ownership and still providing even more high quality and gourmet food as well as staples.

Scenes along the village street. First the remains of the market cross and above The George, pub, restaurant and hotel.

One of my very favorite views in the area, Cuckmerehaven, where the river meets the sea. In the foreground the old Coastguard Cottages and beyond the white cliffs of The Seven Sisters.

On the way home.
